~ Psychotherapist ~

The desire to heal ourselves, to understand why we do what we do, and to change our circumstance seems to be as old as time. If not for this drive where would any of us be?

Our bodies and our minds are innately designed to adapt, to repair, and to grow. In fact, much of what our brain and body do to keep us going is beyond our awareness and even our understanding. Whether you are entering the world of psychotherapy for the first time, or are returning to understand a new challenge, welcome to the beginning of an indescribable journey. Exploration of the role we play within ourselves, our families, and our larger community is not for the faint of heart. The decision to engage in therapy is often facilitated by some level of pain and struggle. Given the last few years, finding the time and the energy to take care of ourselves feels both more difficult and more necessary than ever. Stepping into any new endeavor deserves acknowledgement of the bravery, strength, and commitment it requires.

My Practice

Some of the core tenants of my work are:

Every person should have access to quality mental health care

Therapy is just one of many ways we repair and grow

Finding the ‘right’ therapist is more important than you might think

The process should be empowering and collaborative

My role is to guide you in your process while respecting your pace. My approach to therapy is a combination of person centered therapy, object relations work, body awareness, and skill building guided by cognitive behavioral and dialectical principles. I work to ensure we collaborate on the balance between solution focused approaches and simply being present with whatever is coming up for you at the time. We will experiment with various tools and techniques and learn from the process, understanding that not everything will result in immediate success or relief. My style is honest, practical, direct, and collaborative. While I may be the ‘expert’ in human psychology, you are the expert on your own experiences, goals, and history.

I offer free thirty-minute consultations for those interested in working with me. This time allows us both to get a sense of whether or not I might be a good therapeutic fit. It also allows you the opportunity to ask questions about how I do things.

Please note: As of 2022 we do not have enough trained therapists to meet the needs of our community. This means I do not always have space for new clients and there is sometimes a wait to get started. If I do not have openings, I will offer other recommendations or resources where I can.
